ATTACHMENT B <br /> OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> MAJOR FUNCTIONS <br /> MAYOR <br /> To serve as the chief executive officer of the County, and to <br /> exercise the full range of executive powers enumerated by the <br /> County Charter . <br /> To provide leadership, guidance, and administrative <br /> coordination and support for all executive agencies of the <br /> County. <br /> To provide direct supervision and control over the Office of <br /> the Corporation Counsel , Department of Finance, Planning <br /> Department, Department of Research and Development, Office of <br /> the Safety Coordinator, the Mass Transportation Agency, the <br /> Office of the Mayor and other agencies that may be enumerated <br /> by law. <br /> To supervise and control , through the Managing Director, the <br /> Department of Public Works, Department of Parks and Recreation, <br /> Fire Department and other agencies that may be enumerated by <br /> law. <br /> To provide general- supervision and control over the Department <br /> of Civil Service, Police Department, Department of Liquor <br /> Control , Department of Water Supply, Department of Housing and <br /> Community Development, and other agencies that may be <br /> enumerated by law. <br /> To provide supervision for the Department of Civil Defense, <br /> Office of Aging, Hawaii Redevelopment Agency and other agencies <br /> that may be enumerated by law. <br /> To establish and supervise boards and commission and advisory <br /> commissions, in accordance with the County Charter and other <br /> applicable laws. <br /> To review and ensure the execution of County contracts and <br /> other signed instruments. <br /> To serve as the primary representative of County government <br /> and/or its executive branch , and to ensure and facilitate <br /> communication between the County, the public and other branches <br /> and levels of government. <br /> 489 <br />
