CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Bethea called the public hearing portion of the <br /> meeting to order at approximately 5: 11 p.m. at the Parker <br /> Ranch Restaurant , Waimea, Hawaii. Cushnie <br /> Francine Duncan <br /> David Fuertes <br /> James O. Juvik <br /> Aileen Lum <br /> Steven T. Nishikawa <br /> Akira T. Omonaka <br /> Patricia M. Poppe <br /> Attorney: Christopher Yuen <br /> Secretary:R. Marie Jacobs <br /> Members Sherwood Greenwell , Vice Chairman <br /> Absent : H. Peter L'Orange <br /> III . INTRODUCTION <br /> Bethea: Reminded those present that this public hearing <br /> is in accordance with Section 15 . 3 of the Hawaii County <br /> Charter re the mandatory 10-year review. He read the <br /> public hearing schedule. <br /> Bethea: Introducted topics previously brought before the <br /> Charter Commission for review/alteration: <br /> (1) The way the County Council is elected; <br /> (2) Qualifications of Council members; <br /> (3) Changes in the general plan; <br /> (4) The way appointments of agency heads are made; <br /> (5) Functions of the Salary Commission/setting the <br /> salary of the mayor; <br /> 580 • <br />
