Adopts and amends rules and regulations. <br /> (Note: The staff provides technical, secretarial and other services. ) <br /> L. Uniformity <br /> 1. Works closely with the civil service jurisdictions of the State, <br /> City and County, Maui, and Kauai toward uniformity in all civil <br /> service matters (required by law). <br /> M. Elected Officials • <br /> 1. Serves elected officials in personnel matters as requested or <br /> authorized. <br /> 2. Provides testimony for legislative- committees in regard to proposed <br /> bills. <br /> 3. Appears before the County Council or its committees to discuss <br /> personnel matters as requested. <br /> • <br /> 4. Conducts research and studies for legislative bodies as directed. • <br /> N. Incentive and Service Awards Program <br /> 1. Recognizes outstanding non-supervisory and supervisory employees. <br /> 2. Provides recognition for beneficial suggestions. <br /> • <br /> 0. Other Programs <br /> 1. Assists with student, Federal and State employment programs as <br /> requested. <br /> Since our goals and programs relate directly to legal requirements in <br /> most situations, it is unlikely that changes will occur unless there are changes <br /> in the laws. <br /> Our most critical need at present is for space which we need quite badly <br /> for the development of our training program and to solve present over-crowded <br /> conditions in the Department of Personnel Services. <br />
