At start - up, t he ZOOM tool will be <br />active, and you may want to use it <br />to zoom in to an area s o that you <br />are not initially overwhelmed with <br />information. The cursor will look <br />like a magnifying glass with a plus <br />symbol in the center. Click and <br />drag from just above and to the <br />left of Hilo to just below and to <br />the right of Hilo (or anywhere <br />else, for that matter). You’ll end <br />up with your screen showing just <br />the area within the square that <br />you just drew. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />4. Now you may want to select the <br />LAYERS that you’re likely to want <br />to use. These are located in the <br />Table of Contents list at the left - <br />hand side of the screen. Be <br />careful to select only the ones <br />that will be valuable to you, since <br />the system bog s down as more <br />information is requested. <br />Typica lly, some of the more <br />helpful layers include Roads, <br />Planning Permits, Parcels, S pecial <br />M anagement A rea , and maybe <br />State Land Use, LUPAG, and/or <br />Zoning.
