She also stressed that since <br />there are a lot of other Agencies that are already <br />covering that, maybe we should look at other <br />topics that are equally important that are not being <br />covered. <br />Report on the Committee's Sub -Committee's <br />LCommunication and Outreach - <br />Committee Member Punihaole reported that <br />Hawaii County EEO and ADA Officer Julie <br />Rawlins really helped her out by providing the <br />information that she was looking for. <br />Committee member Punihaole informed the <br />Committee that she has reached out to people who <br />she knows that are disabled or who has a family <br />member that is disabled. She felt that she could <br />reach out to a broader community. <br />She also inquired if there are any brochures or <br />literature that she could hand out <br />Committee member DeLima mentioned that when <br />she was Chair of a Commission for the <br />Handicapped -on Maui, she invited the Department <br />heads to attend meetings and do a presentation. <br />Chair Shirachi, replied that her intention of the <br />agenda was to have a guest speaker from the <br />County attend the Committee meetings until <br />September. That way, people from the public can <br />attend and voice their concern relating to people <br />with disabilities and to educate the rest of the <br />Committee. <br />Deputy Corporation Council, Malia Hall <br />suggested that the Fact Sheet would be good to <br />hand out to the public. The fact sheet explains <br />what the Committee is about and who the <br />members are. <br />Committee member Nagasawa said that would be <br />a good way to get others to come to the meetings. <br />Chair Shirachi announced that since there is a <br />budget for the Committee, starting next month we <br />would be putting an ad in the West Hawaii Today <br />newspaper for the upcoming meetings. <br />Tage 2 of 2 Hawai 'i County is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
