Well...go ahead. <br />Just a quick reminder so I don't believe all members were present <br />for this hearing so...you know the usual protocol is that only the <br />members who are present or those members who reviewed the <br />minutes and entire record and can attest that they're able to vote on <br />the matter...should vote on the matter...but if you're not able to do <br />so then I would ask you know that you refrain from voting or ask <br />to be excused. <br />Alright. Any other discussion regards to this item? <br />I just wanna commend J for including "it appears" in writing...it <br />was very important to me. Thank you. <br />I just found it interesting in this hearing that were able to find out <br />that the County has 14 special contracts that are out there...that are <br />awarded by the Mayor and I don't know if that means those 14 <br />people should be submitting financial disclosures or you know <br />what...I mean it's just I get the impression that special contracts <br />could be issued at the discretion of the Mayor with no...there's no <br />review or secondary concern until this Ms. Novak brought it to our <br />attention. So I don't know what that means...it's just that...that <br />was an eye opener for me...that we have those special contracts <br />out there. <br />Sole sourcing contracts right? <br />Sole sourcing, correct. <br />And executives have that discretion something to challenge. But if <br />there's no challenge...I mean I don't think it's the ethics <br />commission...the Board of Ethics' position to go looking into <br />those. <br />It's just...there's no secondary review or any disclosure that goes <br />to the County Council or anyone...it's just at the discretion of the <br />Mayor...I found that interesting...I wasn't aware of that. <br />14 <br />
