Creation of Sub -Committees: • The committee chair can create ad hoc sub -committees; • Lito suggested creating a sub -committee to be involved in planning. The following members agreed to participate on this sub -committee: Lito Asuncion, Meizhu Lui, Teana Kahoohanohano, and Frankie Stapleton. • Lito also suggested a Legislative sub -committee. Suggestion was that this committee was to be led by Jim Cisler (PABEA). • Steve expressed concerns that AARP not being represented on outer islands. • Steve suggested that ARA (Alliance of Retired Americans) be represented as well. • Randy Perreria is the current State Representative (HARA). • Meizhu suggested that this sub -committee will be re -introduced in the next meeting. By-laws also amended to include the following: 1. Reduce quorum to 1/3. Judy Bell motion move; seconded by Lito. Asuncion. Motion passed all in favor. 2. Agenda and Notice to comply with state laws. Frankie Stapleton Motion to move, second by Rowena Tiqui. Motion passed all in favor. 3. Malia Hall, Corporation Counsel will make the changes and submit to the Committee. 9. LEGISLATIVE ISSUES: None reported at this meeting. 10. AGENCY AND DISTRICT NEWS: • Meizhu Lui brought up the concerns that "Powerful Tools" have a better connection with the ADRC office. Kimo stated that there are funds. • Judy Bell stated that she would meet with Nic, and Hawaii Care Choices (formerly Hospice of Hilo) to do some caregiver training. • Steve Ono asked Malia for clarification about the "Lobbyist". 11. ANNOUNCEMENT: Patrick Toal, Alzheimer's Association announced the new Support Groups for Family Caregivers coming in 2019 in Waikoloa, Waimea and Hawaii Paradise Park.
