Committee on Aging Minutes <br />July 25, 2018 <br />Page 4 <br />3. Creation of Sub -Committees: <br />• The committee chair can create ad hoc sub -committees; <br />• Lito suggested creating a sub -committee to be involved in planning. The <br />following members agreed to participate on this sub -committee: Lito <br />Asuncion, Meizhu Lui, Teana Kahoohanohano, and Frankie Stapleton. <br />• Lito also suggested a Legislative sub -committee. Suggestion was that <br />this committee was to be led by Jim Cisler (PABEA). <br />• Steve expressed concerns that AARP not being represented on outer <br />islands. <br />• Steve suggested that ARA (Alliance of Retired Americans) be <br />represented as well. <br />• Randy Perreria is the current State Representative (HARA). <br />• Meizhu suggested that this sub -committee will be re -introduced in the <br />next meeting. <br />By-laws also amended to include the following: <br />1. Reduce quorum to 1/3. Judy Bell motion move; seconded by Lito. <br />Asuncion. Motion passed all in favor. <br />2. Agenda and Notice to comply with state laws. Frankie Stapleton <br />Motion to move, second by Rowena Tiqui. Motion passed all in <br />favor. <br />3. Malia Hall, Corporation Counsel will make the changes and submit to <br />the Committee. <br />9. LEGISLATIVE ISSUES: None reported at this meeting. <br />10. AGENCY AND DISTRICT NEWS: <br />• Meizhu Lui brought up the concerns that "Powerful Tools" have a better <br />connection with the ADRC office. Kimo stated that there are funds. <br />• Judy Bell stated that she would meet with Nic, and Hawaii Care Choices <br />(formerly Hospice of Hilo) to do some caregiver training. <br />• Steve Ono asked Malia for clarification about the "Lobbyist". <br />11. ANNOUNCEMENT: Patrick Toal, Alzheimer's Association announced the new <br />Support Groups for Family Caregivers coming in 2019 in Waikoloa, Waimea and <br />Hawaii Paradise Park. <br />
