Action Item: Jewel to submit revised FY 2019 Budget to OPA and provide copies <br />to the CSW Committee. <br />C. Vote to request funds from CSW for projects — Subject defer. <br />VI. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC - None <br />VII. CORRESPONDENCE - None <br />VIII. REPORTS <br />A. No HSCSW Report <br />B. Mele reported on the NACW Conference. Refer to Report on 48t—" Annual <br />Association of Commissions for Women (NACW). The Hawaii State <br />Commission on the Status of Women received the annual achievement award <br />from the (NACW), at NACW's annual conference in Los Angeles Aug. 4. The <br />award recognizes Hawaii's achievement in becoming the first state in the <br />nation to pass Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination <br />Against Women (CEDAW) legislation in every county. Mele sent the press <br />release to HTH, Janet Snyder, County PR Specialist and all Hawaii County <br />Council members. Mele suggested that CSW continue membership in NACW <br />for the resources, leadership training, and networking; and recommended that <br />other members on the committee be given the opportunity to attend <br />conferences in the future with some CSW funding. <br />IX. OLD BUSINESS <br />A. Teen Dating Violence <br />• Update on cell phone safety card distribution - 50 at NACW <br />Conference by Mele, 50 to Tropic Care by Jewel. Jewel reported <br />that a project featuring a video by teens is still pending. <br />Action Item: Additional Cell Phone Safety cards can be obtained at the next Hilo <br />Meeting; Farrah will distribute cards to Brooke for distribution on the westside. <br />B. Real Women Essay Contest <br />• Farrah reported having pictures and is researching where it can be <br />stored (team drive or drop box) for distribution. <br />• Pictures and article can be used for publicity. <br />Action Item: Farrah to submit report, article and pictures. Mele to distribute to <br />HTH and Janet Snyder, Mayor's PR Specialist. <br />C. Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum <br />• The Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum (HIWLF) Summit to <br />be held on October 19, 2018 at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at <br />Keauhou Bay. HIWLF has requested funding from County Council <br />• Farrah asked for CSW approval to send a request to the Hawaii <br />State CSW for $2,500 funding for the Summit. Kami motioned, and <br />Jewel seconded. Motion passed. <br />Page 2 <br />
