Sub Committee Reports <br />Committee member Linda <br />Gonzales gave her report on <br />Parks and Recreation and gave a <br />brief background about herself. <br />Old Business <br />MCPD Outreach Efforts to Big Island <br />Chair Shirachi mentioned that <br />Communities <br />she attended the 5d' Annual East <br />Hawaii Disability Legislative <br />forum. <br />Discussion <br />Committee Member Laura Tobosa asked to invite <br />Regarding <br />the new Mass Transit Director. <br />Future Agenda <br />Items <br />Chair Shirachi mentioned to the Committee that <br />Mr. Torey Keltner will be doing a presentation on <br />the Disability Parking placard enforcement at the <br />next meeting in November. <br />Ms. Shirachi also mentioned that she will try and <br />get someone from Civil Defense to present in <br />December. <br />Committee member Nagasawa wanted to see if <br />we could get an update on Richardson's beach <br />access with Parks and Recreation. <br />Announcements <br />Jesse Floyd mentioned that this month is National <br />Disability Employment Awareness month. There <br />will be an event on October 26th from loam- 2pm <br />at the Hilo Walmart about the benefits of hiring <br />someone with disabilities. <br />Jesse also mentioned that DCAB will be having <br />an emergency planning meeting and community <br />forum. The date is TBD. <br />Hanneh Hedrick informed the Committee of a free <br />information session called "Our Care, Our Choice <br />Act" on October 24th at 10:00am at the Hilo <br />ADRC. <br />Mr. Byron Yogi made an announcement about a <br />free event at Aunty Sallys on November 3rd at <br />4:30pm.
