Ms. Nahale-a moved to approve the application received on
September 25, 2018, submitted by Anthony's Catering Inc.,
dba Anthony's Catering, for an original Caterer liquor license,
located at 61-3270 Maluokalani Street, Building A, Bay 1,
Kawaihae, Hawaii, TMK: 6-1-006:015; seconded by Mr. Salave`a.
Taniguchi: Moved and seconded. Any discussion? Mr. Greenwell?
Greenwell: Basically, he prepares food, caters, and the liquor is stored there?
Takase: Under a catering license, it's exactly what it is. He can prepare the food there,
he'll store his liquor there, but he cannot serve out of there. In other words, he can't open
as a restaurant from that location. And since there's no liquor service at the location, it's
only a "one hearing" process. Basically, he's just going to be operating a kitchen out of
that location.
Greenwell: And it's only storage of liquor that he is going to have at that premises?
Takase: Yes. He'll get calls to catering an event, prepare the food there, then take the
liquor from there and go to whatever location they're going to serve it at. He will notify us
when he does have a catering event. He'll need to let us know the location, show that
they have permission from the owners to cater and serve at that location.
Cook: That is correct. In speaking with my client, there's really only two main clients that
he has, Kahua Ranch and one of the ships.
Garcia: Ocean Sports Boats.
Cook: His specialty is barbeque.
Garcia: We do a barbeque dinner at Kahua Ranch once a week, and then we do the
catering for Ocean Sports Boats, which we drop off and pick up. For the ranch, it's the
only place that I would serve any beer and wine, and I would pull a monthly catering permit
from the department. When I submit that, I submit a site plan, a plot plan and a letter from
the owner stating that they will comply with the Liquor Commission rules and regulations.
Takase: Mr. Garcia, for Ocean Sports, are you catering liquor to them as well?
Garcia: I provide the food. I have nothing to do with the liquor license. They have their
own liquor license.
Takase: Okay.
Garcia: I make the food, drop it off and when they're done with it, the boat comes back in
and I pick the boxes up that I took it in, and take it back to the kitchen. Those are the only
two accounts I have. We're not actually open to the public.
Takase: Okay, thank you.
OCTOBER 4, 2018 - LIQUOR COMMISSION MINUTES
21
