Cost of Government (COG) Commission presentation on their purpose and goals. <br /> <br />Greg Larson: Mr. Larson is a commissioner for the Cost of Government Commission here to <br />do a presentation he is here along with Dayday Hopkins and Jenipher Jones who are also <br />COG commissioners. Mr. Larson explained that the COG commission has nine members in <br />their group total and he is here representing the Sanitation sub-committee that included both <br />himself and Ms. Hopkins. He also advised the SWAC members that Ms. Jones is the Chair <br />person for the COG commission. Mr. Larson handed out documents on what he is going to <br />cover today. He explained that the COG commission is tasked with the study of all County <br />Departments, Commissions and Boards and to look into the finance and cost of everything <br />th <br />finances in whole the COG commission is focusing on specific portions that would make the <br />heaviest effect. He went on explaining that the commission is looking at each Department <br />individually and they have chosen a number of individual Departments to scrutinize and get <br />more information than what is readily available and that one of those they are looking into is <br />Solid Waste. He asked for the committee to look at the last page of the handout that list the <br />last COG recommendations for the Department of Environmental Management. The COG <br />goal is to coordinate more with departments and committees to find out what those goals are <br />ne with information gathering. He advised <br />that they are there to gather information and support the SWAC so we would have more <br />voices going in the same direction and he said that they believe that it is there best tool to <br />have something positive happen. COG goal here today is to gather information and take it <br />back to their commission, but most importantly they are here to support our SWAC. Mr. <br />Larson said that Ms. Hopkins had put together a list of questions for the Department to <br />generate discussion. Chair Hayducsko advised that he would take the questions back to the <br />Department and ask them to respond to the questions from the COG. <br /> <br />5. NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br />a.
