And we also have a position <br />4 description for him, so it's very clear what we expect <br />5 out of him. And I think that in the last few years, we <br />6 really kind of smoothed that process out so that it's <br />7 taken a lot of the subjective issues out of it, so it's <br />8 a lot more objective. <br />9 CHR. ONO: Dr. Dow, it seems like you want to <br />10 say something. <br />11 MR. DOW: Yes. <br />12 Is the fire commission willing to make a <br />13 specific recommendation for salary for their chief? <br />14 MR. BECKER: I don't think we are at this <br />15 time. I mean, we want, I think, to see what process <br />16 you're proposing to use, whether that is an annual <br />17 review based on what the employees that are -- <br />18 contracts negotiated at the state level make or exactly <br />19 what your process is. Whether that is -- you know, <br />20 like the police commission said 10 percent and 5 <br />21 percent. We really would want to hear what your <br />22 proposal is before we would propose because I don't <br />23 think we have the economic data to really do that on <br />24 our commission. <br />25 CHR.
