Power, View planes, and Erosion Control Group: Group member, Toni Withington, shared <br />that the group has been continuing work on the erosion control project at 'Upolu Point. The <br />group continues to work with students building additional check dams at'Upolu Point. She <br />also shared that the group is drafting comments on the Environmental Assessment for <br />Kohala Shoreline. <br />3. Comm. No. 2019-02 Parks, Water, and Roads Group Report for 12/18 &1/19: Group <br />Member, Toni Withington, shared that the Department of Water Supply will be holding a <br />meeting in Kohala about the potential new well at Hala'ula. She also announced that Don <br />Smith from the State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation would be at a meeting on <br />January 3111 at the Hisaoka Gym Conference Room to discuss the Pololu Lookout parking <br />lot. <br />Group member, Jeff Coakley, shared that there have been some issues with drug activity, <br />theft, and irresponsible hunting practices with sections of Pratt Road that have been <br />opened. Mr. Coakley stated that the group is still focusing on moving forward with the Pratt <br />Road emergency bypass. <br />To view Comm. Affordable Housing Group: Group Member, Jack Hoyt, announced that the next meeting for <br />the group will be on January 291h. The group has been working to coordinate with the Office <br />of Housing and Community Development to learn more about and better understand the <br />implications of affordable housing projects, but have had difficulty getting a response from <br />the department at this time. Mr. Hoyt stated that he would like to see the AC draft a letter <br />to the Director of Housing to address the lack of responsiveness from the department. Ms. <br />Gloor stated that she would try to help the group get in touch with someone from the <br />Office of Housing and Community Development. <br />5. Growth Management Group: Group Member, Toni Withington, shared that the group had <br />been discussing the implications of the Pololu Lookout improvements project. The group <br />also discussed developing better communication with the Planning Department to get <br />permit applications further ahead of time to provide adequate time to review the permits. <br />Ms. Withington also shared that the Department of Water Supply has executed a <br />memorandum of understanding with the land owner to allow the subdivision and land <br />purchase for the new Hala'ula well site. <br />To view Comm.
