No. 509 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 10:33 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations, and Economic Development,to which <br /> was referred Communication No. 509, reports as follows: <br /> Transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, via Communication No. 509, dated November 16, 2021, <br /> submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the re-appointment of Ms. Gabriella Cabanas <br /> to the Merit Appeals Board. <br /> Ms. Pomaika`i Bartolome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Roth, introduced Ms. Cabanas as a <br /> lifelong resident of Hawaii and a retired County of Hawaii employee with 37 years of service <br /> with the Department of Human Resources. <br /> Ms. Cabanas was present and thanked the Council for the opportunity to continue supporting the <br /> community. She also touched on the work the Merit Appeals Board did over the past year as well <br /> as mentioning the important work coming up this year including the recruitment of a new Director <br /> of Human Resources. Ms. Cabanas closed by thanking the Council in advance for their support on <br /> her re-appointment. <br /> Several Council Members praised Ms. Cabanas for her committment to fairness and understanding <br /> of Human Resource issues. They also thanked her for her leadership on the Merit Appeals Board. <br /> Committee Chair Kimball also stated her support for the re-appointment of Ms. Cabanas to the <br /> Merit Appeals Board and said it was up to Ms. Cabanas if she would like to be present for the final <br /> vote on her re-appointment on December 22, 2021. <br /> If re-confirmed, Ms. Cabanas will serve a term to end December 31, 2026. <br /> GOREDC Report No. 20 <br />
