No. 508 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 11:16 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 508, reports as follows: <br /> 3 <br /> Communication No. 508, transmitted by the Honorable Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated <br /> November 18, 2021, nominates Daniel Malakie III of Council District 7 to the Cost of Government <br /> Commission. <br /> Executive Assistant to the Mayor P6maika`i Bartolome introduced the nominee. A longtime Hawaii <br /> resident, Mr. Malakie is a retired captain of the United States Army, serving as a medical evacuation <br /> executive officer and pilot. Mr. Malakie is currently employed by Paradise Helicopters as a pilot and <br /> director of safety/operations, and is a Balefire Safety Solutions safety auditor. Mr. Malakie also <br /> volunteers with the Kona General Aviation Committee and the Helicopter Association Safety Working <br /> Group. <br /> If confirmed, Mr. Malakie will serve a term from January 1, 2022, to November 30, 2022. <br /> Mr. Malakie elaborated on his background, emphasizing his ties to Kona and desire to give back to the <br /> community.
