No. 667 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:39 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 667, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 667, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated February 24, 2022, <br /> nominates Michael Dela Cruz to the Leeward Planning Commission. <br /> Ms. Pomai Bartolome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Roth, appeared in Kona Chamber to <br /> introduce Mr. Dela Cruz who was also present. Mr. Dela Cruz. has been a resident of Hawaii <br /> for 28 years, he attended Pahoa Elementary and High School and graduated from the Hawaii <br /> National Guard Youth Challenge Academy in 1999. His desire is to serve his community and <br /> become more involved and aware of future development and the impact it may have on families <br /> and community. He has volunteered in the Ironman Triathlon, highway and park clean ups, and <br /> serves as coach for both soccer and little league. If confirmed, he will serve as the At Large, <br /> North or South Kohala Commissioner with term ending December 31, 2025. <br /> Mr. Dela Cruz offered a summary of his experience and responded to questions from Committee <br /> Members. <br /> Committee Member Villegas thanked Mr. Dela Cruz for his willingness to serve. She also asked <br /> who his employer was. Mr. Dela Cruz stated he worked for the ILWU (International Longshore <br /> Warehouse Union). <br /> Committee Member Inaba recommended Mr. Dela Cruz be familiar with the CDP`s (Community <br /> Development Plan) in the General Plan that may share a lot of information and help guide <br /> decisions that the Leeward Planning Commission oversees. <br /> PC Report No.: 52 <br />
