COUNTY OF HAWAII 4 STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 411 22 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS <br /> RECREATION TO AWARD FUNDS TO DESTINATIONHIL <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> } <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, Destination Hilo, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as <br /> defined above, will promote the 2022 Hilo Bay Blast on July 4, 2022; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to provide <br /> $49,000 to Destination Hilo; and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used towards a 4t" of July fireworks display <br /> as part of the Hilo Bay Blast celebration; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`1, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to provide a grant of <br /> $49,000 to Destination Hilo to promote the 2022 Hilo Bay Blast on July 4, 2022. <br />
