COUNTY OF Ic �,' ,* STATE OF HAWAI'l <br /> a''To'�Mw MOW i•'\\ <br /> �rF oi•Na� <br /> SOLUTION NO. 23 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHII THE DEPARTMENT <br /> AND DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO LATOPUA 2020 <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, La`6pua 2020, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as <br /> defined above, will teach food preservation techniques, encourage the community to <br /> buy local produce, and support a food program for qualified students in West Hawaii; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research & Development wishes to provide <br /> $100,000 to La`6pua 2020; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Department of Research & Development is authorized to provide a grant of <br /> $100,000 to La`6pua 2020 to provide services as indicated above. <br />
