IL78 2a <br /> '1tl•r 4F°NAS <br /> i <br /> 1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> 3 <br /> RESOLUTION T II THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND <br /> I <br /> RECREATION TO AWARD FUNDS T NAI I I <br /> CULTURAL FOUNDATION <br /> i <br /> 3 <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, `Ghana o Kohanaiki Cultural Foundation, which qualifies as a <br /> nonprofit organization as defined above, will implement their Ka Hale Wa`a o <br /> Wawahiwa`a Kohanaiki Beach Park project; and <br /> WHEREAS, this project entails the use of traditional methods of thatching <br /> Loulu (fan palm) fronds to repair the roof of the Native Hawaiian Hale at Kohanaiki <br /> Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to provide <br /> $48,000 to `Ohana o Kohanaiki Cultural Foundation; now, therefore <br />
