Sako,via Communication No. 665 dated <br /> December 20, 2023, amends Ordinance No. 23-50, as amended,the Operating Budget for the County <br /> of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. <br /> This bill increases revenues in the Federal Grants—National Instant Criminal Background Check Act <br /> Record Improvement Program account($169,728); and appropriates the same to the National Instant <br /> Criminal Background Check Act Record Improvement Program account, for a total appropriation of <br /> $715, 488. These additional funds would be used to convert paper files to electronic formats and to fund <br /> overtime hours for staff to prepare documents for electronic conversion. <br /> Hawai`i Police Department Lieutenant Nelson Acob provided a brief overview of this measure. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked Lt. Acob for a timeline for completing this digital <br /> conversion. Lt. Acob estimated that it would take a year. <br /> Committee Member Rebecca Villegas asked Lt. Acob to confirm that this program intends to digitize <br /> records for easy access; Lt.
