COUNTY OF HAWAVI <br />STATE OF HAWAIJ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 141 2.5 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF FUNDS TO THE <br />HAWAI'I ISLAND HUMANE SOCIETY BY THE ANIMAL CONTROL <br />AND PROTECTION AGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br />County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 <br />to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br />grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in a resolution; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136 of the Hawaii County Code <br />states, "Nonprofit organization" means an organization that is registered and in good <br />standing in the State of Hawaii as a nonprofit organization and maintains a 501 (c)(3) <br />charitable designation from the Internal Revenue Service; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Humane Society, which qualifies as a nonprofit <br />organization as defined above, will utilize the funds to support off -island animal <br />transport, on -island adoptions and rehoming efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, the Animal Control and Protection Agency wishes to provide <br />$50,000 to the Hawaii Island Humane Society; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br />accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br />Code, the Animal Control and Protection Agency has approval to award $50,000 in <br />grant funds to the Hawaii Island Humane Society. <br />
