<br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> BILL Nom. 324 <br /> (Draft 3) <br /> ORDINANCE N0.04 141 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 <br /> (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. Chapter 18, Article 4, Division 1, Section 18-90, (Fares), of the <br /> Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is amended by adding a new subsection to <br /> read as follows: <br /> (g) Promotional fares. <br /> (1) The purpose of this subsection is to provide lower bus fares when a <br /> new route or service is provided or to boost ridership on established routes <br /> ~2) The Transit Administrator may establish fares on a temporary basis <br /> for a period not to exceed 90 (ninety) calendar days for bus routes and services <br /> L) Transportation kokua zone <br /> (1) The purpose of this subsection is to boost ridership in economically <br /> depressed districts and to assist in alleviating traffic congestion in <br /> various districts. The Council may upon consultation with the <br /> transit administrator establish a transportation kokua zone Riders <br /> boarding and alighting any public transit vehicle operated by the <br /> County of Hawaii or its designee within a transportation kokua <br /> zone shall ride free of charge. <br /> <br />
