No. 284 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> <br /> TIME: 10:09 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 284, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 284, transmitted by Director of Finance William "1'akaba, dated May 18, 2005, <br /> authorizes the acceptance of donations from Trace Evidence and Dr. Leonard G. Horowitz, D.M.D., M.A., <br /> M.P.H., of Steam Vent Inn & Health Retreat. <br /> Trace Evidence has graciously donated a portable tent to the Hawaii County Police Department. The value <br /> of the donation is estimated at $139. <br /> Dr. Leonard G. Horowitz has graciously donated a library of educational materials, including books, <br /> videotapes, audiotapes, and CDs to the Hawaii Cpunty Police Department, in appreciation to the <br /> Department and Officer William Derr, and to fulfill the Department's continuing educational needs in the <br /> area of risk management. The value of this donation is estimated at $500. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Article RIII, Section 13-12, Iiawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may <br /> accept gifts or donations of personal property. Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), of <br /> the Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the <br /> Department of Finance, shall be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval. <br /> A letter of appreciation will be sent to Trace Evidence, Mr. Lawrence Schiller, Executive Producer, <br /> Production Office, 7018 Owensmouth Avenue, Suite 104, Canoga Park, CA 91303; and Dr. Leonard G. <br /> Morowitz, D.M.D., M.A..
