"''I' <br /> REQUESTING THE MAYOR AND HIS ADMINISTRATION TO WORK WITH <br /> KAMEHAMEHA SCHOOLS ON FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF LANDS MAUKA OF <br /> THE KPC VILLAGES, LLC PARCEL TO PROVIDE FOR COMPLETION OF THE <br /> PROPOSED "VILLAGE BYPASS" CONNECTOR ROAD BETWEEN ALI`I DRIVE <br /> AND KUAKINI HIGHWAY. <br /> WHEREAS, on January 9, 1989, the Planning Commission approved SMA Use Permit <br /> No. 276 fora 48-unit condominium Multiple-Family Residential (RM-1) project and related <br /> improvements on lands located on the mauka side of Ali`i Drive across from Huggo's Restaurant <br /> and the Royal Kona Resort Hotel complex, in Kailua-Kona, Pua`a 1st, North Kona, Hawaii, <br /> more particularly designated as Tax Map Key: (3) 7-5-009:023; and <br /> WHEREAS, present owner KPC Villages, LLC, has received approval for a change of <br /> district classification from Multiple Family Residential (RM-1) to Resort-Hotel (V-.75) in order <br /> to develop 19 additional multiple-family residential units for a total of 67 units and an on-site <br /> commercial area that will include 92 underground residential parking spaces and 45 ground level <br /> commercial parking spaces; and <br /> WHEREAS, in its approval of Ordinance No. 06-44 effective April 12, 2006, the County <br /> Council required KPC Villages, LLC to construct that portion of the proposed "Village Bypass" <br /> connector road between Ali`i Drive and Kuakini Highway which extends along the southern <br /> portion of its property, and if required, to dedicate the completed roadway to the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kamehameha Schools owns lands immediately mauka of the KPC Villages, <br /> LLC parcel; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County Council desires to complete the connector road to Kuakini <br /> Highway, which alignment extends through the mauka lands owned by Kamehameha Schools, <br /> more particularly designated as Tax Map Key (3) 7-5-009:021; and <br /> WHEREAS, a developer may be currently negotiating with Kamehameha Schools for <br /> development andfor purchase of its lands located mauka of the KPC Villages, LLC parcel, and <br /> may be able to complete the connector road alignment to Kuakini Highway extending through <br /> the Kamehameha Schools parcel. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and his Administration are <br /> requested to determine whether the subject lands owned by Kamehameha Schools are, in fact, <br /> being negotiated for development and/or purchase, and if so, to ascertain whether project plans <br /> include completion of the connector road alignment to Kuakini Highway extending through the <br /> Kamehameha Schools parcel; and <br /> <br />
