Arakaki, Chair _ <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> FROM: John Ray, Chair <br /> Committee on Human Services and Economic Development <br /> RE: Resolution Supporting the Hawaii Fin Swimming Council <br /> Please find attached a resolution supporting the Hawai' i Fin Swimming Council and fin swimming <br /> as an emerging sport, in general. Mr. Dietrich Lawrence brought the need for a resolution to my <br /> attention. 1 will be requesting that the resolution be waived from the Committee on Human <br /> Services and Economic Development, so that the County Council may take action on the <br /> resolution before the end of 1997. The Hawaii Fin Swimming Council would like to be able to <br /> demonstrate the Hawai' i County Council's support for the sport as they begin planning <br /> international events for 1998. <br /> Ultimately, the Hawaii Fin Swimming Council wishes to establish Hawaii Island as a National <br /> Training Center for fin swimming, eventually gaining the recognition of the training facility by the <br /> US Olympic Committee. <br /> Thank you for your consideration of this matter. <br /> 12AY/kle <br /> R,CS, <br /> Cc*mnt b1a___~J---.-- <br /> T~IV ;1) ~ <br /> kRef.
