vv or y-_ <br /> o <br /> ~'4 <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 484 D6 <br /> Draft 2 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF TAX MAP KEY: (3)7-6-013:017 AS A <br /> REMNANT PARCEL. <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii is the owner of that certain parcel of land, being Lot 1, <br /> between Kailua-Keauhou Road and Kailua-Keauhou Middle Road, at Holualoa 1st and 2nd, North Kona, <br /> Hawaii, further identified as Tax Map Key: (3)7-6-013:017; and <br /> WHEREAS, Lot 1 is roughly triangular in shape, contains an area of 1.002 acres, and more <br /> particularly described in Exhibit "A" and delineated on Exhibit "B" attached; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii acquired the parcel on January 6, 1969 from L. S. <br /> Dillingham, C.W. Carlsmith, B.F. Dillingham, and Donn W. Carlsmith, for the proposed Kailua Fire <br /> Station site; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 1973, the County constructed a new Kailua Fire Station on Palani Road; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii does not have plans to utilize Lot 1 for any of its programs <br /> and finds it in excess of the needs for which it was acquired; and <br /> WHEREAS, the only separate legal access to Lot 1 would be over an unused, dead-end section <br /> of the former Kailua-Keauhou Middle Road immediately adjacent to the Kona V istas Subdivision; and <br /> WHEREAS, following opening of the Kuakini Highway and Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway <br /> extension, this former roadway section was cut off from sections to the north, fell into disrepair, and <br /> rendered unsuitable for the public roadway purposes for which it was intended; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County has no plans or desire to continue, encourage or permit use of this <br /> portion of the former Kailua-Keauhou Middle Road by any motorized vehicle; and <br /> WHEREAS, homeowners of the adjacent Kona Vistas subdivision have expressed concerns <br /> about (1) ongoing illegal activities along this portion of the old Kailua-Keauhou Middle Road, especially <br /> near the area fronting Lako Street, (2) additional security and noise impacts to neazby residents caused by <br /> any re-opening of the old roadway to vehicular traffic and (3) view plane and noise impacts to those <br /> residents caused by future commercialization of the subject lot; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County finds the subject parcel is economically or physically unsuitable or <br /> undesirable for development or utilization as a separate unit by reason of its location, size, shape, or other <br /> characteristics, in accordance with Section 2-110(3), Hawaii County Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the adjoining landowner, Inter Pacific Motors, Inc., has expressed an interest in <br /> acquiring this parcel; and <br /> <br />
