Higa, 4`h District <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> RE: Bill 53, Draft 2: An Ordinance Amending Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County <br /> Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), Vehicles and Traffic, Relating to <br /> Temporary Changes in Traffic Controls to Effectuate Traffic Code Amendments. <br /> Attached for your consideration is Bill 53, Draft 2. Draft 2 incorporates the floor amendments set <br /> forth in Communication No. 180.1 dated March 19, 2007, which were approved by the Council at <br /> its Mazch 21, 2007 meeting. <br /> Draft 2 amends the title of Bi1153 to read as follows: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br /> CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), <br /> VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, RELATING TO TEMPORARY CHANGES IN TRAFFIC <br /> CONTROLS TO EFFECTUATE TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENTS." <br /> Draft 2 also amends chapter 24, article 2, section 24-11, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 <br /> Edition, as amended), as follows: <br /> "Section 24-11. Temporary changes to effectuate amendments. <br /> The director of public works of the County is hereby empowered to make <br /> changes in parking and other traffic controls for a period of ninety days as a <br /> temporary measure to effectuate the provisions of an amendment to this chapter. <br /> The director of public works may have a sin>;le ninety-day extension of this <br /> period if a bill to enact the so effectuated amendment of this chapter remains <br /> pendine before the County Council at the end of the initial ninety-dayperiod. <br /> Any additional extensions of time shall require Council approval." <br /> SKH/ader <br /> //Attachment <br /> `B~ 53) 4a ~ a > Comm.
