„tY OI!;1r. <br /> ~~L.~ i <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> . <br /> >I Oi ~M~~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 171 07 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE HAWAII FIRE <br /> DEPARTMENT GENERATOR PURCHASE GRANT <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation's Safe Community Program <br /> has authorized funding towards the Hawaii Fire Department's Generator Purchase Grant Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to purchase twenty sets of generators, lights, and <br /> traffic signs that will provide a well lit and well marked accident scene on poorly lit rural highways; <br /> WHEREAS, the new equipment, which should protect motor vehicle accident victims and the <br /> fire personnel from injury and death, will be assigned to designated fire stations around the island; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation are <br /> derived from grants provided by the federal government, under the National Highway Safety Act of <br /> 1966; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain <br /> the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting <br /> action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any <br /> funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers. <br /> <br />
