No. 171-07 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa <br /> 78-128 `Ehukai Street <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 171-01, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 171-07, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 89 by Director of Finance <br /> William Takaba, via Communication No. 351, dated April 16, 2007, authorizes the Office of the <br /> Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, for the <br /> Hawaii Fire Department Generator Purchase grant. <br /> The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation's Safe Community Program has authorized <br /> funding towards the Hawaii Fire Department's Generator Purchase Grant Project. The grant <br /> funds will be used to purchase twenty (20) sets of generators, lights, and traffic signs that will <br /> provide a well lit and well marked accident scene on poorly lit rural highways. The new <br /> equipment which should protect motor vehicle accident victims and the fire personnel from <br /> injury and death, will be assigned to designated fire stations around the island. The funds <br /> provided by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation are derived from grants provided <br /> by the federal government, under the National Highway Safety Act of 1966. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent <br /> of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br /> <br /> be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to famish, expend and receive any funds <br /> or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> <br /> powers. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 171-07 <br /> and recommends its adoption. <br /> la <br /> raves rvoes a&e ax Respectfully submitted, <br /> FORD X <br /> xIGA x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> HOFFMANN X <br /> IKEDA X <br /> JACOBSON X <br /> NAEOLE X <br /> PILAGO x DOMINIC YAGO , <br /> YAGONG X FC REP A 100 <br /> YOSHIMOTO X ADOPTED: MA <br /> <br />
