Mtr,os ~!4,. <br /> ~Jipy <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ~+tt oi~N'~' <br /> 344 07 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY GIFT OF <br /> <br /> THIRTY-NINE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN DOLLARS ($39,567) <br /> FROM THE GREGG MALKIN MEMORIAL FUND TO THE HAWAII FIRE <br /> DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the Gregg Malkin Memorial Fund was established by Glenn and Donna Malkin <br /> in memory of their son, Gregg who perished in a drowning accident, offshore of Maku'u Drive in <br /> Hawaiian Paradise Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Gregg Malkin Memorial Fund, organized under the umbrella of the Daniel <br /> R. Sayre Memorial Fund, has presented a monetary gift of thirty-nine thousand five hundred sixty- <br /> seven dollars ($39,567) to the Hawaii Fire Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase water rescue equipment (valued at <br /> approximately $27,567) and to contract an instructor for the "Ropes Course III" (valued at $12,000) <br /> for the rescue personnel at the Waiakea and Kailua Stations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this <br /> monetary gift; and <br /> WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the <br /> Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other <br /> personal property or real estate or any interest in real estate. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br /> HAWAII, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the Hawaii <br /> Fire Department is authorized to accept this monetary gift of thirty-nine thousand five hundred <br /> sixty-seven dollars ($39,567) from the Gregg Malkin Memorial Fund. <br /> <br />
