Approximately two times per month I contract through the Kohala Center to provide technical
support, classes on various gardening techniques and most importantly HCPSIII DOE Standards Alignment
assistance to the teachers around their school gardening activities and curriculum. Every single teacher I have
worked with in this capacity, without exception, has expressed their great appreciation and thanks for the
assistance and encouragement they derive from a simple workshop or classroom presentation. They are so
greatful for whatever support they can get. My work is funded solely through the meager budget of the school
gardens network, and has recently been threatened with discontinuation due to lack of funds. Any financial
support you can provide for this project will allow me to continue to provide this critical support to our heroic,
oftentimes overwhelmed school teachers. Teaching our children how to grow their own healthy food is
more important than ever in these uncertain times. Please support the efforts of the Hawaii School Gardens
Network to promote this activity at the school level.
Mahalo, Stephen K. Coffee
More new features than ever.
