+fV O! <br /> l~ 4 <br /> • J~ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ~ <br /> f <br /> • r~•ui•wiY <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 5f)6 08 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala Center has created the Hawaii Island School Garden Network <br /> to support the successful development of on site gazdens, curriculum, resources and further <br /> education for the teachers of school-community based gardens at a minimum of 20 (grades K <br /> through 12) schools on Hawaii Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala Center is a 501(c)(3)nnn-profit corporation based in Waimea <br /> which respectfully engages the Island of Hawaii as a living laboratory for humanity by <br /> sponsoring research and education to address local issues that have global significance; and <br /> WHEREAS, a consensus emerging from over 200 participants who attended the Hawaii <br /> Island Food Summit held in October 2007 was that Hawaii Island can and should become more <br /> food self-reliant, and that an important element in creating a more self-reliant and a stable food <br /> economy entails the training of youth and the participation of community in the process; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to <br /> the Department of Research and Development to assist the Hawaii Island School Garden <br /> Network to coordinate and implement collaborative garden projects island wide; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> <br /> APPROPRIATION: $5,000 <br /> <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $5,000 <br /> <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> <br /> 010.161.5161.22 Department of Research & Development $5,000 <br /> Agriculture R&D OCE, Misc.
