COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />582 08 <br />RESOLUTION CREATING A PROGRAM MANAGER POSITION FOR THE OFFICE <br />OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY <br />WHEREAS, on September 19, 2007, the County Council adopted Resolution 303-07, <br />requesting the Mayor to create a Community Violence Coordinator Position for the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council is committed to addressing the domestic violence <br />problem; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and the Hawaii Police Department both <br />agree that for this county to effectively respond to its domestic violence problem, a permanent, full- <br />time coordinator must be in place; and <br />WHEREAS, a new generic class specification for the "Program Manager" position has been <br />established by the Department of Human Resources and states that this position is located at the <br />departmental or division level, with responsibility to oversee and/or to plan, develop, implement, <br />and evaluate activities for one or more of the department's programs; and <br />WHEREAS, creating a Program Manager, SR-24, position specifically for the community <br />violence program within the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, would ensure that all agencies, <br />government and non-government, that respond to domestic violence, create a strategic response <br />to the problem; and <br />WHEREAS, funding for this position will initially come from the Clerk Council Services - <br />Council Contingency Relief account and then be included in future operating budgets; and <br />
