No. 1198 <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa <br /> 78-128 Ehukai Street <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 1:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 1198, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Communication No. 1198, from Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 16, 2008, nominates <br /> Ms. Keawekane of Council District 4 to serve on the County of Hawaii Transportation <br /> Commission. <br /> <br /> Ms. Keawekane is a life-long resident of Hawaii. Since 1991, she has been employed by Alu <br /> Like, Inc. as an island representative. Ms. Keawekane currently is a member of the Keaukaha <br /> Panaewa Farm Association and the Keaukaha Community Association. She is the president and <br /> head pastor of the Ka Uhane Hemolele O Ka Malamalama Church. Ms. Keawekane was a <br /> former member of the Transportation Commission whose term expired in December 2005. <br /> Ms. Keawekane states that she is a Democrat and, if confirmed, she will serve a term to expire <br /> on December 31, 2012. <br /> <br /> Deputy Corporation Counsel Bill Brilhante commended Ms. Keawekane for her willingness to <br /> serve a second term. He spoke in favor of her nomination, and seeks the support of the Council <br /> members. <br /> <br /> The Committee thanked Ms. Keawekane and agreed she does not have to appear before the <br /> Council for final confirmation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> PWIRC RPT NO. 70 <br />
