NO. 974 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 974, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 974 is transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated September 2, 1998, <br /> nominating Sophie T. Keller of Council District 5 to the Hawaii County Transportation Commission. <br /> Ms. Keller is a 5-year resident of Hawaii and is a registered nurse. Since 1994, Ms. Keller has <br /> worked as a private practitioner in acupuncture. She is also a foster parent under the auspices of the <br /> Child Protective Services, and does volunteer work with several community groups working with <br /> the elderly and disabled. Ms. Keller reports that she is not a member of any political party. <br /> If appointed, Ms. Keller will represent Council District 5, a seat that has been vacant since the <br /> resignation of Lee Robbins, and she will serve the balance of the unexpired term, which will end an <br /> December 31, 1999. <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks recommends the approval of the nomination of <br /> Sophie T.
