The King Kalakaua Statue Committee, an ad hoc <br /> citizen's group, will be presenting a check to the Culture & Arts Section of the <br /> Department of Parks & Recreation for the upkeep and maintenance of the <br /> statue at the Kalakaua Park in downtown Hilo. <br /> The life-sized statue was created by artist Henry Bianchini in bronze and was <br /> publicly dedicated on August 6, 1988.
