No. 19-09 <br />PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Hotel <br />78-128 `Ehukai Street <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br />TIME: 8:30a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 19-09, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 19-09, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication <br />No. 32, dated December 3, 2008, abolishes an Abstract Assistant III position and creates a <br />Clerk II position within the Department of Finance Vehicle and Licensing Division. <br />Since March 2008, the vacant Abstracting Assistant III position, Position No. 00-03790, was <br />transferred out of the Real Property Tax Division and temporarily reallocated to a Clerk II <br />position for the Vehicle Registration and Licensing (VRL) Division. There was a great need for <br />additional administrative assistance in the VRL Division and with the slowing of real property <br />transactions, the current staff in the abstracting section of the Real Property Tax office was able <br />to maintain its workload and was not adversely affected when this vacant position was <br />transferred. <br />Over the next year, the expansion of services to satellite offices in South Kohala and Puna will <br />place additional requirements of the VRL administrative staff.
