<br />------- .' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br />BILL NO. 106 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 97 1.:11. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 <br />EDITION, AS AMENDED, BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE TO PROVIDE FOR THE <br />CREATION OF A HAWAII COUNTY F AMIL Y VIOLENCE ADVISORY COMMISSION. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HA WAIl: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 2 of the Hawaii County Code 1983, is amended by adding a new <br />article to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Article <br /> <br />Family Violence Advisory Commission. <br />Organization. <br /> <br />Section 2- . <br /> <br />(a) There shall be a commission composed of a minimum of nine (9) but not to exceed <br />fifteen (15) members who shall be appointed by the mayor and may be removed by <br />the mayor. The commission shall: <br />(1) Prevent and reduce family violence in the County of Hawaii by addressing <br />island-wide issues and ramifications of family violence. <br />(2) Promote public awareness and education about family violence in the County <br />of Hawaii. <br />(3) To act to improve upon services offered to victims and their families. <br />(4) Promote and facilitate inter-agency training on the dynamics of family <br />violence. <br /> <br />(5) Identify community concerns and assist with the study and investigation of <br />resources, activities and political attitudes in the community that would assist <br />the commission to address family violence. <br />(6) Enhance communication, promote cooperation and coordinate services <br />between member agencies. <br />(7) Offer judicial and inter-agency training to provide the impetus for <br />preventive measures and education directed at the community-at-Iarge <br />with emphasis on our children and youth. <br />
