COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 150 d9 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br />INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE HAWAII 50t" ANNIVERSARY OF <br />STATEHOOD COMMISSION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR FUNDING <br />OF STATEHOOD COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS FOR HAWAII COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, on August 21, 1959, President Dwight Eisenhower makes Hawaii <br />Statehood official by signing the proclamation that welcomes Hawaii as the 50th state <br />of the union; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii 50~h Anniversary of Statehood Commission has planned <br />a comprehensive year-long series of events and activities to honor the 50`h anniversary <br />of Hawai'i's admission to the Union; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii 50~h Anniversary of Statehood Commission will be <br />providing funding to support costs associated with dedicated commemorative events <br />being planned for Hawaii County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission's focus has always been on education, therefore <br />they envision that these activities will provide not only fun and entertainment, but also <br />an enlightening experience for all the people of Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county <br />departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal <br />or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers <br />granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in <br />connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />
