No. 73-09 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 11:02a.m. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 73-09, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 73-09, transmitted jointly with Bill 55 by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via <br /> Communication No. 208, dated March 19, 2009, authorizing the Office of the Mayor to enter into an <br /> agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, pursuant to HRS 46-7, for the <br /> Hawaii County Police Department Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program. <br /> <br /> The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance <br /> Division has authorized a $24,193 Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Training Grant to the <br /> Hawaii County Police Department. The grant's goal is to improve the department's ability to respond to <br /> violent crimes against women, primarily sexual assault with associated intimate partner violence, physical <br /> abuse, and homicide.
