COUNTY OF HAWAII - - : / .M. =��fle.: STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 370 10 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br /> INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT <br /> OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, PURSUANT TO HRS 46 -7, FOR A CELL <br /> PHONE /PDA VIOLENCE GRANT FOR THE HAWAII POLICE <br /> DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Crime <br /> Prevention and Justice Assistance Division has authorized funding towards the Hawaii <br /> Police Department's Cell Phone /PDA Violence Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of this project is to improve Hawaii Police Department's <br /> ability to respond to crimes against women perpetrated through wireless /electronic <br /> communication devices; and <br /> WHEREAS, this goal can be accomplished by increasing training for the <br /> department's personnel investigating crimes perpetrated through the use of <br /> wireless /electronic communication devices; and <br /> WHEREAS, another objective is to update or purchase equipment to further <br /> enhance the retrieval of digital evidence for crimes involving domestic violence, sex <br /> assaults, dating violence and /or stalking; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney <br /> General are derived from grants provided by the federal government; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46 -7, requires that county <br /> departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal <br /> or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers <br /> granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in <br /> connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />
