The amendment is as follows: <br />From: <br />010.3308.73 Federal Grants — Distracted Driving Project General $25,278.40 <br />To: <br />010.201.5216.41 Distracted Driving Project General $25,278.40 <br />The State of Hawai`i Department of Transportation Public Affairs — Safe Community Program is <br />providing Federally derived funds of $25,278.40 for the purpose of supporting the Hawaii <br />County Police Department's Distracted Driving Project. Distracted driving, defined by the <br />National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as "any non - driving activity a person engages <br />in that has the potential to district him or her <br />The bill amends the Operating Budget by appropriating this $25,278.40 to the Distracted Driving <br />Project Grant. <br />Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent <br />of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br />be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br />or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br />powers. <br />There was no discussion on this measure. <br />FC Report No. 123 <br />
