�J�t7 Osh ;i•COUNTY OF HAWAII -• �' ��+ STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ....................... <br /> F•M.i► <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 192 11 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br /> INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT <br /> OF HEALTH, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, TO IMPLEMENT THE HAWAII <br /> TEEN OUTREACH PROGRAM (HITOP) IN HAWAII COUNTY <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Health, Family Health and Human <br /> Services Division received a grant from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services to <br /> implement the evidence-based Teen Outreach Program in Hawaii County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney's office has agreed to implement the project <br /> throughout the Island of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of the Hawaii Teen Outreach Program (HITOP) is to develop the <br /> positive potential of teens with the intended results of less risk-taking behaviors such as <br /> violence, school failure and teen pregnancy; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments <br /> obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State <br /> governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to <br /> furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or <br /> to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in accordance <br /> with section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is <br /> authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement with the State of Hawaii <br /> Department of Health, to enable the County to conduct the Hawaii Teen Outreach program as <br /> outlined in the Letter of Intent, and Scope of Services, attached hereto and incorporated herein <br /> by reference as Exhibit "A", and related documents. <br />
