'ublic Safety <br /> SUBJECT: Recommended FY 2012-13 Appropriations for Grants to Nonprofit Organizations <br /> Enclosed for your review and consideration are the Human Services, Social Services, and Public <br /> Safety Committee (HSSPSC) Ad Hoc Committee recommendations for the FY 2012-13 <br /> Appropriations for Grants to Nonprofit Organizations. These recommendations were developed <br /> after review of all eligible applications forwarded by the Department of Finance and distributed <br /> to all Council Members. The Ad Hoc committee was convened at the February 14, 2012, <br /> HSSPSC Meeting. <br /> On February 16, 2012, in compliance with Chapter 2, Article 25 of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, ninety-seven (97) applications from seventy-two (72) eligible nonprofit organizations <br /> were transmitted by the Department of Finance to the HSSPSC Committee for review and <br /> appropriation of funds for the FY2012- 13 nonprofit grant program. This is an increase of eight <br /> (8) applications from last fiscal year. Due to an oversight, two eligible applications were not <br /> forwarded with the February 16, 2012 transmittal and were transmitted on March 12, 2012, along <br /> with an amended list of nonprofit Grant Applicants,bringing the total to ninety-nine (99) eligible <br /> applications for consideration. (Note: The additional two programs are numbered 77A and 77B <br /> in the workbook, and number 63 is intentionally left blank.) Seven (7) applications, not meeting <br /> mandatory criteria, were rejected by the Department of Finance. <br /> The amount requested for this year totaled $3,471,959. Last year, the requests totaled <br /> $3,227,650 from ninety-two (92) eligible program applications and the Council appropriated <br /> $1,500,000.
