The amendment is as follows: <br /> From: <br /> 010.3308.05 Federal Grants— Special Investigative General $ 13,964 <br /> Training <br /> To: <br /> 010.201.5216.25 Special Investigative Training General $ 13,964 <br /> The County of Hawai`i has been awarded a$68,964 federal grant through the State of Hawaii <br /> Department of the Attorney General. These funds are for the purpose of improving Hawai`i <br /> County's ability to respond to violet crimes against women through ongoing specialized training <br /> for the Juvenile Aid Section(JAS) detectives focused on the most current methods in <br /> investigating violence against women cases. A Specialize Investigative Training account was <br /> appropriated for $55,000 in anticipation of grant funding for FY2011-12. The bill amends the <br /> Operating Budget by appropriating an additional $13,964 into a Special Investigative Training <br /> account <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County departments must obtain the consent <br /> of the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action <br /> to be taken pursuant to any powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or <br /> other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br /> Hawai`i County Police Lieutenant Lucille Melemai from Juvenile Aid section appeared before <br /> Your Committee.
