REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE,WATER AND <br /> ENERGY SUSTAINABILITY <br /> DATE: February 5, 2013 Re: Comm.No. 90 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:17 pm <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Agriculture, Water and Energy Sustainability, to which was referred <br /> Comm.No. 90, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 90, transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated January 11,2013, nominates., <br /> Mr. Willie-Joe Camara to a 5-year term to the Game Management Advisory Commission. <br /> Mr. Camara is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i. He is employed by Veterinary Associates Inc. as a <br /> veterinary technician. Mr. Camara states that he is not affiliated with any political party <br /> Executive Assistant to the Mayor Charmaine Shigemura introduced Mr. Willie-Joe Camara as <br /> the District 1 nominee for the Game Management Advisory Commission. <br /> Mr. Camara was present in the Hilo Council Chambers and stated that he is a third generation <br /> hunter from Ahualoa in the Hamakua district. He further stated that he is open minded and that <br /> he believes for the past 30-40 years hunters have had no voice in decisions affecting them, <br /> therefore he would like to be on the Commission to give them a voice. <br /> Council Member Poindexter stated that he would represent her district and she knows his <br /> grandparents and his parents well and she thanked Mr. Camara for following in his family's <br /> tradition of public service. <br /> Committee Chair Wille stated that she was glad Mr. Camara recognized the importance of a <br /> hunter's voice in the decision making process and thanked him for his desire to fill it. <br /> Council Member Ilagan thanked Mr. Camara for stepping up to serve on the Commission. <br /> Mr. Camara is not required to be present at the final confirmation before the full Council. <br /> Pursuant to Hawaii County Charter Section 6-9.3, there shall be a game management advisory <br /> commission consisting of nine members who shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by <br /> the council. <br /> AWESC Rept.
