'� 2 -ter prn HONORABLE CHAIRMAN J YOSHIMOTO 7 AND MEMBERS OF THE HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL 4 HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL HILO HI 96720 SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT: SECTION 24-298 — 15 MILE PER HOUR LIMIT- HAWAIIAN PARADISE PARK We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 11 (Schedules - Private Streets), Division 1 (Speed Limits), Section 24-298, Schedule 2 (15 mile per hour limit), subsection (g) (Puna) be amended by adding new item and renumbering as required: ( ) HAWAIIAN PARADISE PARK SUBDIVISION, ALL UNPAVED ROADS. This amendment was generated due to a request by the Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association. The request was to establish speed limits in the Hawaii County Code for the Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision so said speed limits can be properly enforced by the police. Pursuant to Section 24-2 of the Hawaii County Code, the County shall not be responsible for the maintenance and repair of any private street, highway, or thoroughfare when it imposes or enforces traffic regulations and highway safety laws on that private street, highway, or thoroughfare.
