As part of this process, the Endangered Species Act, Section 7 clearance is required. The <br /> Ane Keohokalole Highway Project encroached into a portion of the 3.43 acre Aupaka Preserve <br /> located adjacent to the project and within the Kealakehe ahupuaa. The agreed mitigation for <br /> project impact is for the County to pay the U.S Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife <br /> Service (USFWS) $35,000. These funds will be used for Aupaka preservation efforts. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the USFWS to <br /> provide these funds to this organization. <br /> The Department of Public Works requests that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee and <br /> be placed on the July 10, 2013 Council Agenda.
