No. 344-14 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:27 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 344-14, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 344-14, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 747 <br /> dated March 12, 2014, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the <br /> State of Hawaii, Hawaii Public Housing Authority, and authorizes the payment for a multi-year <br /> contract for the use of the Pahala Senior Center located at 96-1169 H61ei Street, Pahala, Ka`u, Hawaii <br /> 96777, Tax Map Key: 9-6-017:037. <br /> The resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a three-year Facility Lease Agreement at an estimated <br /> monthly cost of$150, with the option of two one-year extensions. The facility would be used for <br /> various activities in the neighborhood community. <br /> Council Member Ford spoke in support of the resolution; however, she questioned the rental fee. <br /> Finance Deputy Director Deanna Sako appeared before Your Committee for questions. She clarified <br /> that the lease agreement, provided in Exhibit "A" of the resolution, requires no rental fee; however, <br /> there would be a monthly utilities service fee of$125 for electricity and $25 for water. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the <br /> Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken <br /> pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 344-14, and <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> sc <br /> AYES NOES ABS EX Respectfully submitted, <br /> EOFF X <br /> FORD X COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> ILAGAN X <br /> KANUHA X _ <br /> KERN X <br /> ONISHI X � <br /> POINDEXTER X VALERIE T.
