REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND PARKS AND RECREATION DATE: August 5, 2014 Re: Comm. No. 962/Res. No. 478-14 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 10:22 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution No. 478-14, reports as follows: Resolution No. 478-14, transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Kathy Garson, via Communication No. 962 dated July 18, 2014, accepts the dedication of a portion of Kumakua Street, Neepapa Street, Ho`oko Street, a portion of Pomaika`i Street and drainage Easement D, of Kumakua Affordable Housing Subdivision-Phase II, being Tax Map Keys: 5-5019:025 (por.) and 5-5-019:047, situated at Pahoa, District of North Kohala, County and State of Hawai`i from Hawai`i Island Community Development Corporation. The streets measure 0.05, 0.06, 0.14, and 0.05 mile, respectively. The drainage easement contains an area of 1.151 acres. Deputy Corporation Counsel Kathy Garson, in response to Committee Member Dennis Onishi's inquiry, confirmed that the County will be responsible for the maintenance of the easements once it is dedicated. Frank DeMarco from Public Works Engineering Division stated that as part of the process, a memo will be sent to Highway Division to inform them of the new dedicated roads and easements.
